Electrical Control Technicians are responsible for performing repairs and preventive maintenance of facility equipment and machinery to maintain optimal up time of production equipment. They may perform wiring, plumbing, electrical or mechanical maintenance repair work and installation.

YOU SHOULD PURSUE A CAREER IN ELECTRICAL CONTROL IF YOU:

  • Are practical and good with your hands
  • Are interested in technical and mechanical activities
  • Enjoy physical work
  • Are able to do precise and detailed work
  • Enjoy problem solving

IT ALL BEGINS AT A REGIONAL COMPETITION

The WorldSkills Australia Electrical Control Competitions begin at a grass roots level in one of 35 Australian regions. The Electrical Control Regional Competitions test the skills and knowledge of 4000+ apprentices, trainees and students, who have the opportunity to win gold, silver and bronze medals and gain the chance to go on to compete at a national level.

WorldSkills Australia competitions operate on a two-year cycle. The next Electrical Control Regional Competition rounds are now running across the country. 2023 and 2025 are the next National Championship years.
